Sometimes temptations hit us right in the face. I’m sure each of us could tell a story about being offered food when we really don’t need it (I won’t say don’t want it, because we all know we want it). Yesterday, Day 1, I was offered free pizza. I mean Pizza is delicious when you pay for it, but free pizza can’t be beat. Let me give you a little bit of clarity on my relationship with pizza. I can eat pizza anytime, anywhere, and almost any type. Seriously, remember those old lunchroom rectangle sheet pizzas? Yeah, I like them. English muffins with pizza sauce and cheese? Perfect late-night snack (my sister made the best!). How about a tortilla with pizza toppings? I’m there. Free pizza is free pizza no matter the type.
So I’m sure you’re wondering when we are going to talk about wings. That is all about Day 2. Today, everyone in the office ordered my favorite wings! Here is the thing. It’s not just that I don’t need them, and not because they aren’t healthy choices for food (that isn’t my first goal), but because I already had lunch with me. See along with losing weight, my wife and I are trying to stop eating out. Yesterday, when I said I’ve “spent so much money” on maintaining my over-eating, I wasn’t joking. One day I’ll write all about that. Let’s get back to the wings. They smell up the whole office and are delicious. But spending money on them when I had perfectly good left over pizza wasn’t an option. What I’m trying to say is that in two days I’ve been offered food that I normally would have devoured, and then some. Temptations are going to be an everyday thing in this year long journey. It’s the prayer that I’m relying on. It’s grace from an awesome God to help me shed my butter half. I'm happy with today's progress. Right around 1500 calories and also walked about 2.5 miles while mowing this evening. 2 days down, 363 to go!
