Day Nine - T.G.I.F Thank Goodness It's Family(time)!

It's a rare condition, this day and age, to read any good news on the newspaper page.  Love and tradition of the grand design, some people say it's even harder to find.  Well then there must be some magic clue inside these gentle walls Cause all I see is a tower of dreams real love burstin' out of every seam.

It's Friday folks!  How I miss the simple Friday nights of childhood.  School, playing with friends, dinner, and then inviting the Winslow, Tanner, and Matthews families to entertain for the rest of the evening.  There is something really nice about coming home from a long day of work, after a long week of work, and simply relaxing with family.  To have E (my four year old daughter) just want to snuggle and watch the Red Sox together or B (my almost 9 month old son) crawl after my wife and I from room to room.  To spend quality time with the love of my life.  Even if it is watching a poorly acted, poorly written Canadian horse soap opera.  It is an amazing feeling (especially when the Sox trounce the Blue Jays) just to be in a peaceful place for the weekend.

Sometimes we get so lost in the whirlwind of work, we don't know how to leave it at work.  You know?  The result of the craziness that we bring from work then collides with the craziness already at home creating a nuclear explosion.  Well, at least in my home.  I'm sure all of you have very calm and perfect homes and families.  You know, the type that you never having to talk over the chaos of screaming children just to ask your wife what's for dinner.  So how do we leave it all behind and just relax?  How do we forget about everything we left sitting on our desks that is simply waiting for us to walk through the office door on Monday morning?  How do we find a peaceful Friday night out in a front porch rocking chair?

For me it's the simple things at home.  It's the "Hello" kiss my wife gives me.  It's the, "Daddy come see what I made/can do/did today" from E.  It's the giant grin B gives me when I say, "Hi, Bubs!"  All of these things are God reminding me that I am a blessed man and He has given me an awesome family to come home to.  They are how I am able to set aside my busy week.  They are my motivation for this entire blog.  They are why I am so set on losing my butter half.

Another day right in the calorie range I'm shooting for.  Finding lots of great food to eat (thanks to my gorgeous wife) and staying under calories makes this so much easier.  Day two of hitting the recumbent bike.  I'm shooting for five straight days.  Wish me luck!
