Day Forty-Nine - I Was Wasting My Freedom
It's been an eventful day. It started as a long day at work that ended on an up note. I took E to cubbies tonight, and enjoyed my time in men's bible study. I met a pretty cool new couple at church and found out he is about to be deployed for a year. Let's stop and think about that for a moment. He will be away from his bride, in harms way, for a year. And he's doing it to protect our freedom. Let that sink in for a moment. Also, there was a vehicle broken into and another one stolen during church this evening. So while I was talking to this brave soldier, some punk was wasting that very freedom to do harm to others.
So what freedoms are you taking advantage of? Which do you take for granted, or waste? It's obvious that for years I took advantage of the access to food we have here in America. I wasted so much food. There are children around the world who might see a meal a couple times a week. And that meal is in no way anything substantial. The money I've thrown away overeating could have been used by so many programs to help the less fortunate. I've squandered my freedom to workout. I have taken advantage of the vast amounts of leisure time we have here in America. You see, I daily write about my journey, but it really is a life change. I'm not just changing my eating habits or being sure to exercise, I'm trying to make the most of my time in each area of life. I'm trying to make steps forward at work. I'm trying to be intentional with my children and Bekah. I'm trying to make sure that the time God has left for me on earth is not wasted. The first part of that is dealing with my weight and over-eating. That is why I'm so focused on losing my butter half.
Eating was not so good today. I didn't hit 1500 calories. I really don't like doing that, and will continue to make sure this happens few and far between. I didn't realize my meals weren't going to break 1300 calories, and when I did, I told myself I'd have a snack after church. We got home from church a lot later than planned, and with working out it was too late to have a snack. On the other hand, my ride went great tonight!
