Day Eighty-One - Just Keep Swimming
What better way to end our family day than having a family movie night. Tonights feature was Finding Dory. Overall I enjoyed the film. E loved it, and Bekah said it was as good as Finding Nemo. There were a few tense parts (especially the beginning when Dory gets separated from her parents. It definitely played on the emotions and fears of this father), but I would definitely say it is a great choice for a family movie (for those of us with young children). Needless to say, we had a great time. Especially E who is always excited for popcorn and a movie!
So here comes the part when I take a Pixar film and relate it to weight loss and reaching a goal. In the original movie Dory would sing a song saying "just keep swimming, just keep swimming." It is explained in the sequel that her parents taught her that as a child. When I was watching the movie I realized that is exactly what I am doing right now. I am on a journey to lose 166.2 lbs, and there are moments when I don't know which way to go. Now I won't be asking myself "what would Dory do?" like the characters in the film, but I will be remembering to "just keep swimming." It takes perseverance to reach any goal. It doesn't happen overnight and sometimes there are lots of trials along the way. If you remember my earlier posts about milestones and baby steps, these are simple ways to assist in staying focused and "just keep swimming." So this is what I'll do. I'll keep consistently swimming along on my journey to lose my butter half.
Enjoyed some great leftovers today and knocked out another bike ride (I don't feel like it was as hard of a ride as the past few) today. Just a few days from the Holiday break. I'm looking forward to some family time!
