Day Seventy-Four - Baby Steps

B has been flirting with walking lately.  He's been cruising and free standing for a while now.  Occasionally he takes a tiny step or so before falling.  Well last night he randomly took a major step (well steps really) forward.  He took off across the living room (nearly in a sprint), pounding out seven or eight steps.  We cheered and he grinned from ear to ear.  What made him decide in that moment to take those steps is still up for debate.  Personally I think that, given the rapid speed he was moving at, it had something to do with Bekah's plate of pizza on the floor.  So move forward to today.  He is walking everywhere.  He walks and then plops or reaches the couch, then waits a little while and moves again.  When E started walking, it came in spurts over a week or so.  Not with B, he is up and down over and over.  He is so excited (and so proud) to be on the move.

As I tried to think about what I would say for tonight's post, the only words that come to mind are "baby steps."  Everyone is going to have to start somewhere when attempting to reach a goal.  Some people won't have as far to go, and everyone will move at a different pace.  Some people will shoot out of the gate, while some start off slow and build momentum over time.  Still, everyone has a starting point.  I remember the old Richard Dreyfus and Bill Murray comedy What About Bob?  Dreyfus' character is a renowned Psychiatrist and Murray's (Bob) is the craziest man on earth.  Dreyfus' character uses his method of "baby steps" to help his patients, and with Bob he does the same.  I can still hear Bob saying "Baby steps, baby steps, baby steps through the office, baby steps out the door, it works! It works!"  So for all of us, let's take the baby steps.  I don't care if they are fast or slow steps, just get moving.  It won't be very long before those baby steps turn into strides.  I know for me, I'm running full speed now.  I'm losing my butter half.

Eating today was alright.  I should have had less chicken than I did for dinner.  I did complete another workout!
