Day Seventy-Six - Breaking Old Habits to Build New Ones
I am completely blown away by everyone's response to yesterday's post. I had a large spike in traffic today, and several of you shared my post on Facebook. Thank you so much for your help. It's been a crazy day. You know, one of those days when you get some disappointing news, but the rest of the day goes really well. It isn't always like that though. Sometimes there isn't the positive to balance out the disappointment. In the past I would have immediately responded by binging. Seriously, the news would hit, and I would immediately start planning where I'd be stopping for food on the way home. It almost happened again today. While trying to process everything, the thought "are you going to turn to food?" crossed my mind. I immediately and determinedly told myself, "No!"
I can honestly say that I have made a lifestyle change. The results are starting to show in more ways than pounds and inches. It's starting to show in my mind. It's showing in my decisions and the fact that I can easily (and without feeling like I'm missing out on something) turn down temptations. Like tonight when I was leaving work. I was hungry. I walked out of the building and immediately smelled the Chinese restaurant a few stores down. Now if you knew how good their General Tso's chicken is, you would completely understand how big of a temptation that is for me. It took no effort (seriously, I didn't even slightly consider going in there) to just continue to my car and head home. So if you are just now beginning or about to begin your journey, take heart. It does take a little while, but things will get easier. Old habits will break and new ones will start. Just stick to your processes and stay true to your course. You'll hit your goal. It's working for me. I'm losing my butter half.
Calorie intake was good today. I ate a little more than I meant to in snacks. Had a really good ride on the bike while watching The Flash and college basketball (Big win for UK tonight. GO BIG BLUE!).
