Day Sixty-Four - Weigh in #9 - Falling Short of My Goal
If I haven't already conveyed this, I absolutely love my job. Everyday I get to help people. There is rarely anything more satisfying that the compliment of an appreciative customer. I guess when I get a referral from that customer I feel satisfied in my work. Sometimes work requires that we go the extra mile. Like meeting a customer after hours at a Starbucks to finalize a bank loan or discuss life insurance. Great customer service doesn't begin and end at 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM at my office. In the same way, losing weight isn't just at meal times. I can't just pay attention to my diet at breakfast, lunch, and dinner and then eat and be lazy the rest of the day. It requires diligence all throughout the day. I have to be thinking constantly about what I'm taking in each day. I have to remind and prepare myself before cravings hit. I have to be willing to exercise when I am free. I can't just skip a workout because I had something else during the time I had planed to do so. So don't just be a meal-time dieter. Treat your journey to reach your goal the same way you want to be given customer service.
I know you didn't visit my blog today to hear about customer service and how I can apply it to weight loss. I know you are really only interested in the numbers on my scale this morning. I'll cut straight to the chase. I am very disappointed by my weight loss this week. I guess the Halloween candy wasn't that good for me! I stepped onto the scale this morning and weighed 325.6 lbs. That means I only dropped 0.4 lbs. I know I am not going to drop major pounds each week. I do however plan to lose at least two pounds per week. At this point I was still hoping to be dropping around three-four pounds a week (at least until I was under 300 lbs.). I have now lost a total of 40.6 lbs. So what do I take away from this week? I need to be very diligent in what I'm bringing into my body. I need to weigh the amounts of food I'm eating (on my awesome new food scale) to be sure I am not eating more calories than I realize. It's hard work, but I know I can do it. I am still moving in the right direction. I'm still losing my butter half.
Eating went well today and I was able to get another workout in on the bike!
