Sometimes we start a project that should only take a little while to complete, but wind up taking much longer. I have been planning on building a workbench for my garage for a while now. A few months back a neighbor gave me some old countertop they had from when their office break room was remodeled at work. I finally set aside time today to build the bench thinking it would take one or two hours to complete. I thought wrong. Even with the best help in the world (who else's wife takes time to help with projects like this?) from Bekah there were still several setbacks. Thankfully the bench is built. I can't say that it is complete, because it is supposed to fold down, and even though the hinges are attached, there were a few small things I didn't consider in my plans. Since it is way past midnight, I decided to leave the bench standing and will revisit it in a few weeks to finish the job.
This happens sometimes in life. We make plans for a certain goal, and work very hard towards completing the task. Still, there are unforeseen circumstances that delay us or keep us from completing our goal. Don't give up. Do the best you can. Don't use distractions, delays, or mistakes as excuses to stop trying. I know that there are setbacks and things that have and will distract me on my journey. I just have to keep pushing through them and eventually I will hit my goal. I don't care if it takes a year or three years, I am going to lose my butter half.
I am very grateful to have completed another day of eating and exercising. Time to get some sleep!
