Day One Hundred and Thirty-Six - Nocturnal Kids and Sick Computers
If you are like me, you start each day with expectations of how it will go. Also if you are like me, you know that it is a rare occurrence for a day to play out like you've planned. Today was was no exception. For some reason our four year old, E, has been waking up in the middle of the night crying and leaving her room looking for Bekah. Now this is strange for two reasons. First, E very rarely wakes up in the middle of the night (probably only when B wakes her). And second, she knows that the family rule is to stay in her bed and try to get back to sleep. If it is a potty emergency, then the stay in bed rule does not apply. Still, for several nights in a row, she has been waking between three and five AM. We don't know if this is a sleep regression that she'll grow out of, or if there is something deeper going on (potentially a matter of her spirit or frightening dreams). My point to this is to say that both Bekah and I are not getting our normal sleep (well, Bekah is getting less than I do which unfortunately is the norm because B still wakes to be fed). So we started our day off slowly, but we definitely started it out well (Banana Pancakes anyone? ***we leave out the tree nuts because of E's allergy)! I was planning to accomplish a few tasks today, but ended up watching B while Bekah and E went grocery shopping, and then working on Bekah's laptop the rest of the day.
Here I sit at the computer, with Bekah's laptop still running scans of her old hard drive (desperately trying to salvage some of the files that weren't backed up). It's a rarely used computer that hadn't been turned on it a while, so the typical signs of hard disk corruption weren't caught. I do want to say this though. Sometimes our bodies are like this hard drive. If they are fed properly, and carefully protected, they will continue to run. Sure there will be glitches here and there, and maybe a virus will try to break in every once in a while, but overall it will work great. But when we try to put unhealthy things into our body it's like clicking on a link to watch a funny video from Facebook. Who knows whether it's really a funny video of a kid falling off a skateboard or if it's some sort of malware. So don't click the link and don't put harmful foods and drinks into your body. Also, hard drives should be serviced routinely, just like your body. That's why I have a daily exercise plan (and I run virus checks and things like disk defragmenter on our computers). Think about your computer. Is it running great (if so it's probably new or an Apple) or is it bogged down with a million pictures and games (and maybe a virus or two)? Now look at yourself. Does your health parallel that of your computer? Don't get bogged down with old files and viruses. Make wise choices with what you eat and exercise regularly. If you need help, then reach out to me. Join me as I lose my butter half.
***If you are curious about something good to put into your body, you need to ask Bekah or I about Plexus TriPlex. You won't regret it (oh, and it could make you a little money too!)
I had a good day for calorie intake (but I didn't have any fruit so that needs to change tomorrow). I also was able to fit in a workout this morning, but it was cut short by B waking from his nap.
