Day One Hundred and Sixty-One - Finding Confidence When The Pressure is On
Since the beginning of my journey, Wednesdays have become my least favorite day of the week. There is a nervousness that sets in as I begin to think about stepping on the scale in the morning. There is a pressure to make sure everything I take in today won't hurt me for my weigh in tomorrow morning. There is a worry of failure. I think we've all felt this before. Anytime there is a deadline, or when you are competing and the clock is counting down. There is an uneasiness that tries to work its way in. So how do you combat those feelings? How do we rise above the nerves and pressure so that we can meet our goal or win the game?
For me it is simple. I approach this with the same mentality that I approach my work. If I follow the processes that have proven to work, I can have confidence that they will work this time as well. Past success provides confidence for future success. Now, let me mention that as your situation changes, this may not always work the same. In sports, doing the same thing against different opponents won't work. However, when dealing with deadlines, goals, or weight loss, the opposition doesn't change much. Sure you may have to switch the type of exercise or adjust your diet to reach you goals, but the overall process is still the same. Trust in what is working. I trust in my processes, so when those feelings of nervousness and uneasiness arise, I have something to fight them off. This is how I have confidence that I will lose my butter half!
I did a good job eating today and stay within my calorie goal. I did have a couple too many chocolate covered strawberries at work during lunch (I mean it's fruit right?). I stayed home with B tonight so Bekah and E could go to church. Thankfully he went to bed easily and gave me an opportunity to get a full workout in. Weigh in tomorrow morning! Time to get some shuteye.
