It's been a crazy evening here at the Vickers home. Sometimes putting the kiddos down to bed feels like we are out with the cowboys wrangling cattle into a pen (and we only have two kids!). Tonight I found myself in the same place I have many times before. I was attempting to reason with a four year old. Just to make sure I was completely wasting my breath, I made sure that said four year old was crying hysterically.
Do you ever feel the same way about fighting to reach a goal? It's like no matter how hard you try, no matter how well thought out and coordinated your plan is, you feel like you aren't making any progress. Your efforts seem like they are about as useful as debating with a hysterical four year old. Don't lose heart. Just stick with your plan. This week felt like a week that I wasn't going anywhere. I had one of those feelings that no matter how hard I tried, I just wasn't going to lose weight. I decided that even if I didn't lose, I would finish the week satisfied, by staying with my processes.
So the big question is, did sticking with my plan work? Even on a week that seemed like I was just treading water, did I lose weight anyway? The answer is yes! When I weighed in this morning I had lost another 2.2 lbs. This brings my total weight loss to an even 87 lbs., with a current weight of 279.2 lbs. There is something very satisfying about seeing progress even when you don't feel it. It simply adds to the confidence I have in my plan. I now weigh less than I did three years ago when I started my current job. This also means I am now only 4.2 lbs away from my next milestone. I really hope I can hit that within the next two weeks. So here I am eighty-seven pounds lighter than twenty-three weeks ago. I'm encouraged, I'm motivated, and I'm losing my butter half.
My calorie intake today was great, until I got home from work. I stayed within my calorie goal, but I did have too much homemade chex mix (from a bake sale). Thankfully, even though I ate a little more snacks that I wanted, I was still able to get a full workout in.
Keep it up brother!
