Day Two Hundred and Fifty-One - The Day My Wife Fed Bubby a Ball

Lately B has been completely obsessed with balls.  If there is a ball in the room, it is all he will talk about until he gets his hands on it.  Once he gets it in his paws, he'll proceed to talk more about the ball as he is showing it to or throwing it at you.  We have a small bin with balls just in the garage, and if we leave the inside door to the garage open, he bolts straight for the balls (and if he can he'll put the ball through the Little Tikes basketball hoop we have) screaming, "Ball! Ball!"  I'm not complaining about his love of balls.  As any sports-loving dad, I want my son to share my love of basketball, baseball, football, soccer, golf, tennis, etc.  With each squeal of "Ball!" I picture the fun we are going to have playing and watching sports through his life.  ***Side note: E and I also have a special bond for sports.  Ever since she was a baby, we have watched UK basketball, Red Sox baseball, and Broncos football together.  We have lots of special moments playing catch together and talking about her favorite players (Big Pappi, Tyler Ulis, and Peyton Manning... two of which are retired, and Ulis plays in the NBA now).***  I have a reason for telling you about B's love for balls.  I wanted to set you up for what Bekah told me happened today.

Since I started this journey, Bekah has done an excellent job of keeping fruits and vegetables on our grocery list.  If you pay attention to my food tracker, I eat a lot of bananas and grapes (when we have them).  I'll have apples and pears occasionally, but mainly bananas.  So when Kroger had cantaloupe and honey dew melons on sale this past weekend, she had them on the list.  Since I brought the melons home, B has been calling them "Ball."  He sees each of them sitting on our counter and immediately starts gabbing excitedly, "Ball! Ball!"  The poor kid could hardly contain himself.  Today, Bekah decided to slice the cantaloupe for the kids.  B (who loves fruit!) refused to eat any of it, staring at the half melon left on the table.  He just sat there quietly repeating "Ball?" sadly to himself.  Poor kid probably thought his momma was trying to feed him a ball.  I hope this tragic event doesn't scar the poor little guy for life (don't worry, he was already playing with balls again tonight)!  I love being a dad and hearing great stories of the shenanigans that go on while I'm at work.  I'm so blessed to have Bekah as my wife and mother of my kids.  They are blessed to have her as their mom.  It's for my family that I'm losing my butter half!

My calories today were great.  I might have had a few more potatoes with dinner than I needed, but I avoided snacking after dinner tonight (which is usually a big struggle).  My workout this morning was great!  I'm really enjoying it every morning.
