Day Two Hundred and Forty-Nine - Workouts are Much Harder After Missing a Day

Yesterday was exactly what I needed to get my strength back.  I'd say I woke up this morning approximately 90% better than I felt for the past two or three days.  I still have a slight cough that I should be able to shake over the next few days.  I set out right away to making up for staying in bed all day yesterday.  I got up with the kids and let Bekah sleep in (she's caught the cold herself).  I made us all eggs for breakfast (we eat tons of eggs in our house), and gave the kids some dry captain crunch (we were out of milk).  I love getting to spend time with my kids.

I found out the hard way what taking a day off from my workout does.  This mornings workout was rough.  The bike ride wasn't bad, but the planks were terrible.  I shook the entire time, and was slipping when I was doing each individual arm.  I also had to mow today.  I remembered to put on sun screen this time and avoided looking like a tomato.  Our yard is really small and very easy to mow.  The problem is that we have two drainage ditches to weed eat.  One of the ditches is large and typically dry.  The other ditch retains water longer and is harder to trim.  My trimmer is a little short (though very light), so it is hard on the back to reach out with the trimmer while avoiding sinking in the mud.  If it was about a foot longer it would be perfect.  Through all of this I realized that I forgot to eat lunch.  So I went to Kroger (our local Kroger is the best grocery store) and got our weekly groceries.  I came home and made an awesome salad for dinner.   On days like today I'm grateful for this change I have been going through.  While I was mowing all I could think about was how hard it was for me to mow last year.  I would have to sit the rest of the day because I would be so tired and sore.  There is no way I would have been able to walk all over the store after mowing.  I'm loving how much easier everyday things are after losing this weight.  I know that they'll only get easier as I lose my butter half!

My calorie intake was good today.  I tried to make up for missing lunch by eating a larger dinner that was healthy calories.  I made a really big salad with the last of Bekah's grilled chicken.  My workout was very tough, but I made it through.  I also walked twelve thousand steps since I mowed today!
