Day Three Hundred and Four - Change is Inevitable
I helped a friend load a U-haul today. It's a family we've gotten to know for the past few months through church, and this move happened fairly quickly. As I was carrying the boxes down to the truck, I couldn't help but think about how quickly life changes. It doesn't matter what we do, we can never stop life from changing. Sometimes the changes are gradual, spreading out across months, years, or even decades. Other times the change happens rapidly. We usually fight the change because it makes us feel uncomfortable. But it's through those discomforts that we grow.
I can't believe the changes I have gone through in the past five years. We have moved multiple times, our family has grown, I've started a new career, and most recently I've lost over one hundred and thirty pounds. Some of these changes happened quickly and others have taken time. Some of the changes were painful, but I wouldn't change a single thing we've been through. The family we are, and the man I am today is a direct result of the changes we've experienced. I want to ask each of you a simple question. What has your response been to the changes you've gone through? Are you embracing them and allowing yourself to grow? When life came at me last year with some changes, I embraced them. Now I see the results of those decisions and I am so thankful. I'm not the same person I was last September. I'm getting so close to having lost my butter half.
My calories today were good. I didn't workout this morning, but I did get the workout in this afternoon. Also, I skipped my run tonight because I helped some friends load their moving truck. I figured the trips up and down the apartment stairs will count as my run today.
