Day Three Hundred and Thirteen - Learning New Things

What you are looking at is the GFCI outlet in our master bathroom.  Rebekah informed me today that the reset switch was out and the red light was on (not a good thing).  After cutting the power at the breaker, I began my first ever handyman job dealing with an electrical outlet.  Thankfully, I had the guidance of my brother-in-law, Jeff.  I'll admit, I was terrified I would make a mistake, and not have the power turned off.  I could just picture giving myself a huge jolt and ending up fried like the cat from Christmas Vacation.  I followed the safety measures and I was able to swap out the bad receptacle for a new one.  Amazingly, it works!

Sometimes as we reach to accomplish a goal, the journey requires that we attempt or learn something new.  There are times that we are excited about the new experience, but there are also things that can make us nervous, or even terrify us.  I put off running for the longest time.  The reason was because I was afraid of how I would do.  Would I make it a mile, a quarter mile, or even around the corner?  I was scared to find out that after all this time, I wouldn't be able to run.  It had been such a long time, that it was as if I had never run before.  It's just like replacing the outlet.  I was terrified that I wouldn't be able to replace the GFCI receptacle or that I would harm myself in the process.  Don't be afraid of something new or taking a risk along your journey.  Your experience may be the single thing that helps you break through and reach your goal.  I've grown and been stretched so much over the past ten months.  Because of this, I'm losing my butter half.

My calories today were great.  I did have a tiny bit of ice cream today, so the goal for tomorrow is to avoid the ice cream altogether.  I grilled pork and vegetables that were absolutely delicious!  I'm really excited that I completed a two mile run tonight!  I also hit my 10,000 step goal again!  It's been a really good day.
