Day Three Hundred and Fifty-Five - Finding Benefits in Tasks You Don't Enjoy
I came home tonight to mow the lawn in the wonderful summer heat. I've never enjoyed yard work. I'm not one of those guys that finds pushing a mower back and forth or trimming a ditch relaxing or fun. On a side note, I will say that edging by the sidewalk is kind of cool, but that is the extent of the enjoyment I find from working out in the yard. Just because I don't like doing it doesn't mean that I can just ignore it. I could pay someone, but I'm fully capable, and don't have the money to do that. I could let my yard grow like a jungle, but that would drive me nuts (plus snakes and rodents like tall grass). So I'm left with the decision to do that work myself. Also, just because I don't enjoy the work doesn't mean it doesn't have it's benefits. I probably sweat off a few pounds as I mow and weed eat. Also, the fact that I walk close to three miles doesn't hurt my quest to lose these last four pounds. It has mental benefits as well. There is the pride in a nice looking yard, and the satisfaction of a job well done. Also, the encouragement I find in completing a job that last year I was worried might give me a heat attack is pretty awesome. I'm so grateful for the change that helps me complete even the tasks that I don't enjoy. I'm so excited to be losing my butter half.
My calories today were good. I should have avoided the crepes and whipped cream tonight. I ate them while taking my antibiotic I'm finishing for my Strep Throat. My workout this morning went well. It was a bit early for me. I could have used another hour of sleep. I didn't do my full workout with planks on my individual arms and six inch leg holds. I'm going to try to get those added back in this week.
