Day Four Hundred and Eighty-Seven - HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I did not do well with my calories today.  I ate too much pizza tonight.  I did however end 2017 with a 10K!  It was a freezing cold run.  What was crazy is that it wasn't the coldest it has been during my runs.  It may have been the wind, or that it was late afternoon and the sun was mostly down.  I'm not sure the reason, but it felt horribly cold.  Tomorrow is the beginning of a new year, and it is going to be awesome!  I'm going to get back to my normal diet, and add in some push-ups and sit-ups again.  I can't wait to see what 2018 brings for the Vickers family.

Day Four Hundred and Eighty-Six

The end of Christmas Vacation is drawing near, and I feel like I can't wait to get back to my normal routine.  I am desperate to get away from the snacking and unhealthy foods that I have put in my body over and over this past week.  My calories today weren't great, but they weren't terrible either.  I'm glad today is over.  I have to lay off the sugar because I know it is having an impact on my runs.  I just don't feel like I have it in my to run long distance.  Today's run was cut short.  I used my AppleWatch for the first time, but I couldn't get my music to play over cellular.  I will have to try it out again tomorrow.  The run itself of alright.  I just didn't run as far as I would have liked.

Day Four Hundred and Eighty-Five

Well, my calories today were not perfect.  I really need to do better.  I did have a salad for lunch, which is starting to get back into my old habit.  I have to work harder and be more disciplined over the next few days so that I can work back down to my pre-Christmas weight.  My run today was a little different.  I ran 3.2 miles, and then Bekah joined me for the last mile.  We ran slowly (it was her first time out, and it was extremely cold), so it was a little bit of a cool down for me.  I’m so proud of her for getting out there with me today!

Day Four Hundred and Eighty-Four - Weigh in #69 - Blah

Blah is exactly how I feel about my weigh in today.  For the past week I have eaten all of the foods I wanted to eat, and in the amounts that I wanted to eat.  I did run most days, but apparently it is possible to run and still put on weight.  Not just a little bit of weight either.  Let's get right into my weigh in details.

I'm not going to beat around the bush.  I put on a lot of weight this week.  When I stepped on the scale, I was up 12.4 lbs.  I know, I know.  This brings my total weight loss down to 147.4 lbs, with a current weight of 218.8.  I am really hoping that this is mainly bloat from the salty foods I've eaten this week.  That is the only thing I can think that would cause me to gain that much weight in seven days.  I am going to do my best to drop a lot of this back off this week, and then we'll see where we are next Thursday.  This was my worst week so far, but I won't let it bring me down.  I'm going to lose my butter half!

Today wasn't my very best, but I really did well for my first day getting back into healthy eating.  I was careful with my portions (except for the Sister Shubert rolls, those things are a kryptonite for me), and didn't snack on salty foods.  I didn't drink enough water, so I'll work harder on that tomorrow.  My run today went well.  I was able put in another 6.3 miles.  I love getting a full 10K in.  I don't know if I'll be able to do that when my vacation ends next week.

Day Four Hundred and Eighty-Three

My calorie today were not great.  I think I have actually over-calculated what I ate, but I think it's better to over estimate.  I did get a full six-miles (+) in this morning, but I didn't ride the bike tonight like I had planned.  It was freezing out this morning, and from what I understand tomorrow is going to be even worse.  I have to weigh in tomorrow, but I am honestly afraid that I am going to be up fifteen pounds (of bloating) from all of this junk I've been eating.  I'm not kidding folks, this has been terrible for me.  I have to make the proper adjustments to get back into a healthy habit.

Day Four Hundred and Eighty-Two

I didn't eat a lot today, but what I did eat was not healthy (at all).  Tomorrow will be a much different day than today was.  I also plan to have a really long run tomorrow, or at least two shorter ones.  My run today went well.  I ran it faster than I had intended, but I felt good the entire time.

Day Four Hundred and Eighty-One

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!  Today's calories were good until dinner.  I fried eighty-four pieces of fish (beer battered cod and some catfish filets) for my siblings and their families, as well as my parents.  I also fried five bags of fries and hush puppies.  I am so sick to my stomach after all the greasy food.  Now it's time to make my way back to healthy eating and regular exercise.  On the plus side, I did get out for a good run.  I made it over four and a half miles, and that was after eating breakfast and only getting two-hours of sleep last night.  It's time to get back on track.  Starting with a good nights rest.

Day Four Hundred and Eighty

It’s the second day of not tracking, and it’s once again really bad.  Thankfully it is Christmas Eve and I have an excuse (or something like that).  Man, last years version of me would be shaking his head and calling me weak for not sucking it up and fight all the food temptations.  Seriously folks, I’m going to get back at this and finish this journey.  On a fun not we made pizza tonight with my brother and his family.  I’m so excited they are here!  I skipped my run this morning so we could get to church and watch the nursery.  I know I’ll regrets that later this week.  I have to make sure I have a Christmas Day run tomorrow.

Day Four Hundred and Seventy-Nine

It wasn't my best day for calories.  I didn't track them closely, and then didn't even attempt to track them at dinner tonight.  My run on the other hand was really great.  I ran a 10K this morning.  Six miles feels like it takes a long time, but the feeling when I complete it is really great.  Tomorrow will probably be pretty cold out, so we'll see if I do four and a half, or just over six miles.  Merry Christmas Eve Eve!

Day Four Hundred and Seventy-Eight

It is a dreary, rainy day here.  It hasn't stopped raining for a single minute.  My calories weren't bad, but they weren't perfect either.  With all the candy and other opportunities I had to have a terrible day, I am actually really happy with my calories.  I wish I had been able to get out and run.  After the way I ate yesterday, I really feel like I could have use a good run today.  I will have to make up for it tomorrow.  On the plus side, I got all of my Christmas shopping finished!

Day Four Hundred and Seventy-Seven - Weigh in #68 - Christmas Time is Hard on Calories

So I know I've been saying for a while how terrible I've been eating.  I have become a lot less disciplined with my calories recently.  I know it has showed by the slowing of my weight loss.  Also, the types of foods I'm eating haven't been the best.  I know it is Christmas time, but I need to be more careful with what I'm eating and the amounts.  As we saw last week, it is hard to prevent gaining weight when you are eating unhealthy.  Also, I hope if you are reading these, you will go back to the Fall of 2016 and find inspiration from my successes to help you on your journey.

My weigh in this morning was a little unexpected.  I worked out hard this week, but didn't eat well.  I was convinced that, even with the workouts, I would go up a few pounds.  I ran six miles last night, and then six again this morning.  When I stepped on the scale, I was pleasantly surprised.  Rather than going up in weight, I actually went down 3 lbs!  I was completely shocked, but thrilled as well.  This brings my total weight loss to 159.8 lbs., and a current weight of 206.4 lbs.  I can't express how satisfying it feeling to lose such a big amount again.  I'm getting close to my 200 lb. goal!  I'm down three pounds, and I'm losing my butter half!

My calories today were not great.  We had a Christmas party at work, and then I had a Christmas social after work.  I had too much candy and made poor choices about what I was going to eat.  I'm not expecting to have great days over these next few days since it's Christmas.  I'll need to run as much as I can to make sure I am balancing out my diet.  My run this morning was awesome!  After putting in six miles (10K) last night, I didn't know how much I'd have left in me for my run this morning.  Running over 12 miles in less than 12 hours was pretty crazy.  I was pleasantly surprised to get another 10K in this morning!

Day Four Hundred and Seventy-Six

Today was perfect.  I was extremely careful not just with the foods I ate, but also with the amounts.  My calories were exactly where they needed to be.  I even avoided all of the Christmas candy!  I did miss my run this morning, so I had to go for a night run.  While I am not a fan of running at the end of the day (I’m always tired and struggle to get through the run), the benefit was that it gave me time to run longer.  I completed a full 10K!  I have a weigh in tomorrow morning, and I’m very nervous about it.  We’ll see what happens.
