Day Five Hundred and Forty-Six - Treadmill Fire


I'm not going to even start to justify it, today was terrible.  I don't want to get into it all, but I snacked consistently throughout the day on unhealthy foods and snacks.  Then when I went to run tonight, the treadmill exploded.  Seriously, it exploded.  I was just over a mile and a half into my run when the machine suddenly stopped and then, BANG!  There were flames coming up and out of the front.  It quickly died down and went out, but still, it was crazy.

Day Five Hundred and Forty-Five


It wasn't a great day.  I didn't overdo it on my calories too bad, but I wasn't as careful as I had hoped to be.  I think I need to regroup.  I want to get my mind right again, and make sure I know exactly how much work and determination I will need to be putting forth to hit this final goal.  I want to give myself a time frame to do it in also.  These next few days will be a bit hectic for me, and I'm not even sure if I'll get to post some of the nights.  So I don't know if I'm even going to be posting a weigh in this week.  I checked during the week, and I'm still right in the 208-209 range.  My run this morning went well.  I would love to run again tomorrow, but we'll see if it's raining.

Day Five Hundred and Forty-Four


I think we will just skip right past my calorie intake today.  I went over my goal by nearly 600 calories, and it was all junk.  I will say it was delicious, but it was still junk.  The worst part was that I knew the entire time that I was eating junk food, and I just didn't care.  I knew that I would be running tonight, and that I would just run the calories off.  The problem is that 1) I won't always be able to run enough to eat whatever and however much I want, and 2) I don't want to just exercise off the food I chose to eat that day.  I want to lose weight!  This just won't cut it.  Now on a more positive note.  I run six and a half miles tonight.  The best part was that I did it at just over nine minutes per mile.  It has taken a month, but I'm back at the speeds I was running last fall/Christmas.  It felt great!

Day Five Hundred and Forty-Three


So chips, Chex Mix, and Ice are all thing I don’t need to be eating. And yet I ate each of them today. The next few days I’m going to have to eat extremely carefully. With all the rain it is very uncertain exactly how much exercise I’ll be able to get in. Thankfully, I was able to run five miles today. It warmed up to abround fifty-five degrees, but the wind was still pretty cold. Also the sun didn’t really come out from it’s hiding place behind the clouds, so that didn’t help any. It’s not supposed to rain anymore until tomorrow night, so I’m hoping to get a run in first thing in the morning.

Day Five Hundred and Forty-Two


My calories today were weird.  I didn't have lunch, but I still went over on my calories (because of snacks).  It stormed a lot here today, so a run was out of the question.  I helped a friend move, so that was a small workout.  I was able to get a full hour in on the recumbent bike this evening.  I put in just under twelve miles in a fifty-five minute ride.  I am grateful for the bike, and that I'm able to get a good workout in when I can't get outside.  However, riding the renumber just isn't the same as a five mile run.

Day Five Hundred and Forty-One


Today's calorie intake was not my best.  I had too much candy.  Russell Stover's Chocolate Caramels are not my friend (though they do taste delicious).  These next two to three days are critical for me.  I typically don't do well over the weekend, and I want that to change.  My workout today went well.  It was raining this morning, so I rode the recumbent bike for thirty-five minutes.  I was planning to have a second ride tonight, but thankfully there was a break in the rain for several hours.  I got in a five mile run right as it was starting to get dark.  It was a tough run.  I was tired, and my legs were already wearing out from my ride this morning.  I got through it (and even considered making it a 10K), and I am thankful that I got to run.  We still have a lot of rain in the forecast, so we'll see how much running I can do over the next few days.

Day Five Hundred and Forty - Weigh in #77 - Back in a Groove


I am so happy to be back to my normal running and exercising again.  It really boosts my mood and my confidence when I have the satisfaction of knowing that I have put in a good workout.  I am excited for how the rain has held off a lot of mornings and evenings so that I could get my run in.  I know the recumbent bike is a good workout, but it just isn't the same as being outside, running on the pavement.  It is supposed to keep storming for a while, so we will have to hope for a few days that I will be able to get my run in.  I'm beginning to feel like I'm back in a groove.

It was another weigh in this morning.  I knew I had done well this week, but I was still a little worried after my calorie intake on Sunday and again on Tuesday.  Thankfully, the discipline I worked with to fight the sugar cravings paid off the past few days and I did lose weight again this week.  When I stepped onto the scale this morning I had dropped another 2.4 lbs.  This brings my total weight loss back to 157.4 lbs., with a current weight of 208.8 lbs.  I am slowly moving back down towards my lowest weight (204.2 lbs.), as well as my final goal of 200 lbs.  I need to remain disciplined this week again. I would love to be down another two pounds next week.  It's going to take a lot of self-control, as well as some tough workouts.  I am sure I can do it.  I have to keep focused, and remind myself that my enemy is sugar.  I have to determine to work out daily.  I'm getting so close.  I am going to lose my butter half.

My calories today weren't bad, but I did have some sweets that I didn't need.  I wasn't planning on running this morning, but when I woke up, the rain had stopped for a little while.  It was really wet out, but it didn't rain the entire time I was outside.  I was able to get a full five mile run in, and it felt great.  I'm pretty beat tonight though, so I don't think this is a day for me to add in a bike ride tonight.  Still, you never know.  I may feel a little more like it here in a bit.

Day Five Hundred and Thirty-Nine


My calorie intake today has been perfect.  I have been very careful not to overeat, and even made sure not to touch the Veggie Straws.  It has rained all day today, and the temperature is dropping.  I didn't even attempt to go out for a run.  I am not a fan of running in the cold rain, nor do I enjoy having to let my shoes dry back out.  Instead put in two bike workouts.  I did forty minutes this morning, and then another thirty-two this evening.  I really want to make sure I get solid workouts in and make up for the days I haven't eaten as good as I did today.

Day Five Hundred and Thirty-Eight


My calories were really pretty good today.  I had more barbecue at lunch than I needed, but my overall dinner wasn't too bad.  I still should lay off the veggie straws, and I think tomorrow will be a good opportunity to do just that.  It was beautiful this morning when I went out to run.  I was planning to have a quick 3.1 mile recovery run after my 6.5 mile run last night.  I was finishing the 3.1, and I realize I wanted to keep going.  I ended up running 5 miles, and was nearly late for work because of it.  I will say that it is always fun to have my son B out cheering me on as I finish!
