Day Six Hundred and Eight - Three Weeks of Changes
So I know I have had a lot of trouble since Christmas, and I have especially had two really terrible weeks of just eating like the "Old Daniel." I got to the point that I honestly couldn't remember when I last came to the end of a day and knew that I had done really well with my diet that day. I think I really just took a vacation from my diet. The problem was that I was putting on weight. I avoided the scale, but I could tell because all of the dress shirts were fitting too tight. Also, my runs were really tough and I knew that something was wrong. All of that is to say that I need to revitalize the habits that I had prior to Christmas. It takes three weeks to create a habit, so I am going to use these next twenty-one days to get back in the habit.
So today I did a lot better. It wasn't a perfect day, but it was really good. I did have some custard at SAMs that I split with Bekah. Other than that, I avoided candy and didn't have any chips. The most amazing thing is how my body felt. I had a salad for the first time in weeks. I remembered why I've eaten the same salad every day for over a year. I like it! Also, the energy boost from eating food that actually benefits my body completely changed the rest of my day.
My run went well. I only ran a little over three miles, but I did it at under nine minutes per mile. I know that the bloating from the way I ate last week was a huge part of why I was running so slow. Also, the energy from eating food that benefits my body was very evident in my run. On the down side, I bruised or pulled something in my heal tonight. Now I'm trying to deal with whether or not I'll be able to run tomorrow. I guess I will rest it tonight and see how I feel in the morning!
