Day Six Hundred and Thirteen - Sunday Run Day (10K)
Finally I have had a good day. I am shocked at how difficult it is to get back on track with my eating. I still didn't have a good routine, but I'm overall pleased with how my day went. Starting back in October or November I began running six miles several days a week. After my major setback weeks of eating like a pig and not running enough, I have had trouble running five miles. I haven't run six in weeks, so it has been on my mind to get back to a six mile run. Several days I have set out with a six mile goal, and fallen short. There have even been days recently that I could barely make a 5K, with a 10K not even being an option.
I know running over six miles is not an easy task, it is just that I have become so accustomed to being able to run it whenever I felt like it. Having added some weight back on, I was wondering if the added pounds were making it difficult (at the least they probably weren't helping any). Still, I had a feeling that this was a 90% mental battle. I really wanted to knock out a 10K today, but I was not in the mood to run. The problem was that I have a bruised heel/plantar fascial injury, and that it was 85 degrees this afternoon. I struck out thinking I would only run four miles, but even in the heat, I pressed on to hit the five mile mark. When I was returning to my house (crossing the five miles point), Jocko came into my mind and I decided to push through it and knock out the sixth mile (and point two). I was already off course for my normal 10K, but I figured I would just run a lap backwards, and that would get me really close the my 6.2 mile goal. With lots of grace, a renewed mindset, and the pain in my heel subsiding I set out for that last mile point two. While it was not a fast finish (or overall run), and the heal completely sucked, it was amazing to reach the 10K point gain. I know this is going to be huge in my fight to lose my butter half.
As I said I feel like today was a good day. I went over my calories some and ate a few things that aren't part of my diet. Still, I am very happy that I at three meals, and they were all wise choices. I didn't need to Halo Top or the candy I ate. But the rest of my decisions were great. Also, grilled chicken slices (I used the frozen grilled strips from Kroger) covered in buffalo sauce, spinach, ranch, and a little mozzarella cheese all put into a pan heated tortilla makes an amazing buffalo chicken wrap! As I already mentioned (in detail) I put in a 10K today. It felt so great (mentally, not physically) hitting that mark again. I need to get back into a routine to run another half marathon later this year!
